Okay, so I went and found myself a training plan for the half marathon in the Frostbite series (Jan. 22). I was supposed to start that plan last Monday.
I ran a total of 5 miles last week. Definitely not what my training plan called for.
So I readjusted my training plan in a post-Thanksgiving haze.
I started it tonight. I forced myself to go to the Y, despite the last vestiges of a migraine.
I've kind of self-appointed myself the running coach to a few of my friends. So now I have to keep up with my routine. I can't be telling them what they should be doing when I'm not walking the walk (or, should I say running the run?) myself. So, thanks to Alan and Monica for being the kick in the behind that I needed. And if I'm being completely honest, thanks to my mother-in-law and her amazing stuffing from Thanksgiving for giving me further motivation to keep running.
Tonight I did 4 10-minute miles. It sucked to go that pace, but that is what the plan called for. I intend to follow the plan completely, even if it makes me want to hurl myself off a bridge.
Also, I spend a lot of $ on some cold weather running gear on Black Friday. So now, I have to put my money where my mouth is and get off my butt and run!
Today sucked at school--very stressful. And tonight kind of sucked because I didn't really see my family (but let's face it, I kind of got a little bit of an overload this past weekend--we could all use a bit of a break). But one thing was great today--I got my run in. and my knee didn't bother me. That's what I call a good day!
