I had one of the worst days at work--EVER. I don't really want to go into it, but it just sucked.
I got home from rehearsal around 5:30-6:00--somewhere in that neighborhood. As soon as I arrived home, I opened windows and started dinner. Tonight was comfort-food night: sloppy joe's ($10 says you're singing the song right now!), macaroni and cheese, carrot sticks ('cause you have to have some healthy veggies) and french fries--krinkle-cut, deep-fried french fries.
As we sat together at the table eating our comfort food dinner, the kids must have known just how bad my day was. They pulled out all the stops, and even got some laughter out of me.
Here are a couple of dinner moments worth sharing:
Me: Did your teacher tell you to tell me that?
Connor: No, she told me to tell my Dad.
Me: Okay.
Connor: I tried to wash it with water, but it did not work.
Okay, maybe this one's not exactly rolling in the aisles funny, but it cracked me up at a time when I really needed it, so I think it deserves mention.
Now I will go to the Y and try to run away from my troubles...

Aw, isn't it great when they sense that? The kids were super good yesterday after having been sort of rotten the day before when Bob had to convince me that they weren't "broken"...he was right...they were back to being their mostly sweet selves the next day...hope your school situation can be the same for you (though we rarely refer to HS students as "sweet")!
