My husband let me sleep in this morning, and sleep in I did--until 11:00 a.m.!
It's been a rough week as far as my sleeping habits have been concerned. To start, last Friday night I stayed at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau (my speech and debate kids were competing at districts). Thanks to the kind folks in room 117, I only got 4 hours of sleep that night. The next night was the time change (Beth, I'm starting to see distinct advantages to your whole "refuse to live in towns that adhere to DST" thing).
Then, later this week, I had major sleepus interruptus due to the fact that I heard a door open and close in my home while everyone (including me) was supposed to be asleep. I had to get up and investigate. Upon doing so, I found our back door completely unlocked. So, I had to search our house (thank heavens we've been playing a lot of hide & seek with the kids lately--I knew all the potential hiding spots for intruders) to make sure we were safe. Once I'd determined that there was no one hiding in our home ready to rob/kill/etc. us, I booby-trapped the kids' rooms (just to be on the safe side). I took every noise-making toy in our house and lined their doors with them as well as the hallway. I also made sure the baby gate at the top of the stairs was closed--everything I could do to make sure I heard people in my house.
Well, that was another night of poor sleep.
Those that know me, know that I am nothing without sleep. So you can imagine just how pleasant and productive I've been this week. Here's hoping that I've solved my sleep issues--at least for the time being--and that I can now be a normal human being again.
PS-Brooke, I'm sorry to complain of lack of sleep to a mom with a newborn. I know that things could be much worse...

Unfortunately, I now live in a state (and have for 5 years) that adheres to DST. Ahhhh, sometimes I long for the good ol' days in Indiana and Arizona. However, just FYI, Indiana now follows DST.
I've had a couple sleepless-ish nights myself lately. Not fun at all!
:) No offense taken, Kim. Besides, the thought of you lining up noisy toys by the kids' doors is a funny enough image to make up for any offense I could have taken...that is something I would have totally done! I can't believe you didn't make Caleb get up and help you investigate. I am terrible in those situations...every scary thing I have ever heard of or seen goes through my mind!
