It was only a matter of time. I taught them the term "rock star parking", and they can now identify said parking spaces at grocery stores, Targets and shopping malls across the greater St. Louis area. Now they actually think they're real rock stars. And I guess in a way they are--at least in our living room.
Aunt Sara loaned us her dvd of The Little Mermaid because I'm a big loser and didn't purchase the new and improved dvd before Disney "put it back into the vault". Well, in the bonus features you can catch this little jewel (which I would never have willingly exposed my children to, since the singer is a member of the High School Musical cast, and I boycott that ridiculous movie on the grounds that it paints people in my profession as total and complete nut-jobs--a major misrepresentation, as we are clearly only partial nut-jobs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ8UVhRpZVA.
So now, every time we watch the movie (and I admit it's pretty frequent--hey, a girl's gotta fix dinner and clean house sometime), we have to watch the aforementioned video about a dozenmillion times (yes, I did just make up a word, thank you very much). Watching and listening to my two cuties sing along with Miss Ashley Tisdale almost makes it worth listening to the horror that is that arrangement of Kiss the Girl. They both have their own distinct styles--Connor prefers to focus more on his singing technique and the actual lyrics and Riley likes to concentrate on her sweet dance moves. I suspect that Connor might also be concentrating on the pretty girl on the TV--oh yes, he's already discovered girls at the tender age of 5 (it's going to be a loooong puberty...), which might be hindering his dancing abilities, as Riley points out in the latter part of the video.
And now, I present to you, my little rock stars:
Edited to add: I've been attempting to upload the video of them singing Kiss the Girl for almost 24 hours now. It's not going to happen. If you want to see it, come to my house and I'll show you. It's hilarious!
