So, here it is, almost dinner time. My kids are playing in the play room while I play on facebook and in blog world. (I know--not the best quality time, but Daddy's reffing a soccer game tonight, and I now have my second cold in a month's time. I'm not feeling very Mother of the Year-ish right now.)
I'm snacking on some Wheat Thins. The good kind: Vermont White Cheddar. The kind I didn't think my children would...appreciate. But I underestimated them. If it's edible and it's not squash or zucchini, they love it. Soooo anyway, I'm snacking when the phone rings. Unfortunately, it's the cheap phone--the one without a caller ID function. Had I been thinking clearly, I wouldn't have bothered to answer. But I was afraid it might be my dear husband. So I picked it up, only to be greeted by a representative for the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police. Apparently, they are seeking money, which I give to them every year. I believe we call it taxes.
But I digress.
Anyhow, I have a handful of these fancy Wheat Thins, which acts as some sort of magnet between my children and me. I'm on the phone. Both kids are loudly begging me for food (because apparently we never feed them). I'm desperately trying to make the kids be quiet so that I can dump the telemarketer, but I don't want to sacrifice the last few Wheat Thins (I had just emptied the box) in the name of peace--after all, I'm hungry, too. I pull my hand away from my little urchins and the next thing I know, even the dog is in on the beg-fest.
The telemarketer was kind enough to offer to call back later. Perhaps after my kids are in bed.
That was nice of him.

LOL. Serves the telemarketer right. I always felt like I should support the POLICE, I mean, they are the ones who could my name on the "let's give her a ticket" list right? Then I heard that it's all a money-making ploy that doesn't even help our local police (our probably any police for that matter.) So, if he does call you back after the kids are in bed, you have the right to throw a good wheat thins style tantrum on him all your own. :)
