So today is January 18, and we are finally taking down our exterior Christmas decorations.
Yes, we are those neighbors. The ones you drive by and loathe just a little bit. Or a lot.
We would have tackled the situation long ago, but several things kept getting in our way, namely the frigid temperatures and snow. Then, this week it finally warmed up a bit, but I was never home in time for my husband to have any daylight in order to get outside and remove the lights. So, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the struggles of all African Americans and the Civil Rights movement, we are going to stop angering our neighbors today on our day off from school.
So, how was your Christmas you ask? (Since you never bothered to log in and post anything about it...)
Our Christmas was fantastic! We got to spend a few days in the greater Cape Girardeau area, surviving 3 Christmas celebrations and 1 birthday party in 3 days' time. Then Caleb's folks came in town to visit us for a few days including New Years.
I was sad to see the Christmas season end, but I was ready to get back to our little routine of going to bed at a normal time and getting up at a regular (note, not normal) time.
Then, just 3 days into our new semester, we got a little mini-vacation due to the big snow storm. It was like Christmas break all over again, but without all the festive decorations, since I had already taken those down (at least the indoor ones).
Now we have returned to the normalcy of school and work. Caleb is super busy with contest season for choir. I am super busy with the musical (opening night is less than 1 month away, hence the serious lack of blog entries as of late).
In addition to the busy-ness that is work and parenting, yesterday Caleb and I both registered for the Go St. Louis half marathon on April 11. We are now both officially and financially committed. He will be fine, but now I have to man up and put my money where my mouth (and running shoes) is/are.
So that's the update from Casa Zustiak. Sorry they've been few and far between. Perhaps after Feb. 13, when my production of Grease is finished, I will be blogging a bit more.
