It was recently brought to my attention that I haven't posted to this blog in ages. I just didn't have anything to write about. I guess I actually did, but I couldn't find a way to make it funny. Anyhow, it turns out, there is at least one person in the world who enjoys reading my thoughts, observations and stories. So, now that my busy season is sort of over (read: the musical is over), I'm going to try to get myself writing more often.
For today, I guess I need to catch you up to speed a little bit...
As of my last entry, I was preparing to run the St. Jude's Marathon in Memphis. Welllll, I did that (kind of), but I also got to run the NEW YORK CITY MARATHON!!!!!!! I have a friend who works for an organization that had some unfilled charity spots as of the end of September. She was looking for folks to fill those spots, and I convinced my husband that I needed to do it. I tweaked my training plan and managed to finish the NYC Marathon in 4 hours, 27 minutes and 38 seconds. It was truly one of the most amazing things I have ever done.
A month later, Caleb and I drove to Memphis and completed the St. Jude's race. He ran the half and I did the full. I use the term "did" because I'm not sure you can call what I did "running", exactly...Turns out, you aren't supposed to run 2 marathons so close together. The professional runners don't even do that. I, however, am stupid. I developed some serious IT-band issues during the race and I had to limp--LIMP--for the last 6 miles (which took me over an hour and a half alone). It was painful, but I'm glad I did it.
After finishing these 2 races, I now have 4 states crossed off my list. That's right--I'm truly crazy! I'm going to attempt to run either a half or full marathon in each of the 50 states (and hopefully in D.C.). 4 down, 46 (47) to go!! I'll get 3 states this year. I'll keep you posted as they approach.
It's not a terribly exciting post, but it's going to take a little time to get you up to speed. The funny posts will start happening--just wait. For now, this is all I've got, because I'm about to fall asleep and I must go wake myself up before I go to Ash Wednesday Mass with my heathen children. (Trust me, I'm going to need LOTS of rest before I attempt this one...)
