So, here's what's new:
- My house is a trash pit (not really news to anyone, but it is the current state of affairs around here; actually, it's more like the perpetual state of affairs). I promise that this will be rectified tomorrow, as I'm afraid that if anyone were to stop by they would be compelled to call DFS on me.
- I can now start focusing on what and how I'm going to teach this fall, since I'm not procrastinating on my homework anymore. Oooh, big fun. And me without my heart pills...I'm going to have to work fast. School's just around the corner. (Where did the summer go?) When we start back up, I'm supposed to start rehearsals for my play, Caleb will be doing the soccer thing and I'm going to be taking 6 hours this fall. Call me crazy!
- Caleb has been busy with soccer camp this week. He's really looking forward to the upcoming season, and he thinks they will have a better record than last year. Really, that's all you can hope for--a little improvement each year. He also has been asked to conduct some choral workshops for 3 different colleges (SEMO, MoBap and MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY!!!!). He's pretty stoked, and I'm very proud of him. I just wish that I could be as good at my job as he is at his.
- Connor is officially one sticker shy of completing his "good boy chart". Hopefully this means a trip to the toy aisle tomorrow!!!
- Riley is doing relatively well as she mourns the loss of her beloved binky. We've had a rough couple of nights and naptimes (lots of kicking, screaming and punching--from her, not me), but tonight was much better. Daddy was able to reason with her a little (as much as any one person can reason with a brand new 2 year old), and she went to bed without a tantrum. See below for the pictures from our Build-A-Bear excursion.
- I am officially training to run in a 5K the first weekend in Sept. Instead of just going to the Y and getting on the treadmill all willy-nilly, I have a specific training plan that I think I can stick with. Tomorrow I'm going to register for the race--and run my whole 2 miles without any walking breaks!
- After I get through this race as well as a few more (and probably after I finish up the masters degree, which will hopefully happen next summer), I plan on competing in a sprint triathlon. I hesitated to post this, because posting it means that I have to follow through. This is a major long-term goal, here. But I really think I can do it (eventually). Wish me luck!
Okay, as promised, here are some Build-A-Bear pics (sorry for the overload--those two blue-eyed babes are just too cute!):
Filling up Binky the Bunny.
Put a little love in your (Binky's) heart.
Time to hit the showers!
Riley's all street.
Oh yeah, Binky the Bunny had to have a pair of crocs, just like her owner. Even Daddy said so!

Adorable!
(p.s. please stop talking about summer being almost over. My summer school doesn't end until next week. I must live in denial that I have to get my fall classes ready to go in three weeks)
