Ode to a 4 Year-Old's Capacity for Defiance
Connor: I want _______ (fill in the blank with whatever item a 4 year-old boy might desire at the check out at Linens and Things).
Mommy: No.
Connor: Why can't I have______ (fill in the blank with same item as above)?
Mommy: Because I'm mean.
Connor: YOU'RE NOT MEAN!!! (at a much higher than necessary decibel level)
Mommy: Okay.
Connor: I want _______ (fill in the blank with same item as above).
Mommy: NO! (Whilst trying to restrain a certain angry 2 year old who desperately wanted OUT of her stroller).
Connor: Whyeeee Mommeeee?!?!?! (at same volume as before)
Mommy: Because I'm ruining your life.
Connor: I don't like it when you ruin my life, Mommy.
Get used to it, kiddo.
