Jersey Boys!

All I have to say is this: if you get the opportunity, you must go see the musical Jersey Boys!!!!!!! It was frickin' amazing! For those of you who don't know, it's a musical about the singing group the Four Seasons (Sherry, Big Girls Don't Cry). One of my students scored free tickets for tonight (opening night!!!!!), and her mother wouldn't let her go because it's a school night, late night, the area, etc. So the girl just gave me her tickets. They weren't the greatest seats, but the price was definitely right (and the seats ended up not being bad). I bought her a t-shirt, so she'll still get something out of the deal. The performance was amazing. There's just no other word to describe it. It would have been better if the bozo a section over had remembered to turn OFF his/her CELL PHONE after intermission. The stupid phone (which had the most obnoxious ring tone, by the way) rang right at the quietest, most emotionally intense moment of the show (I don't want to give anything away, but someone dies). How ridiculous is that?!?!

Now onto other stuff. Really just one thing that I wanted to share. Today I had a quick errand to run with the kids. We're parked on Main Street here in town. A good old main street--lots of old shops, you must parallel park. As we walk back to our car from the store, we walk past a guy who is standing in the doorway of what I presume is his shop. He's standing there, door open wide, with his young daughter (probably between 2 and 3 years old). She's just kind of wandering on the sidewalk around him. He's just standing there puffing away on his cigarette, not really paying much attention to her. I go get my own kids buckled into their car seats, get myself buckled in and look up to see the guy's shirt. It's a blue t-shirt with the superman logo. But instead of superman, it read "Super Dad." And I thought, "Oh, I love me some irony."

Oh--one other thing worth noting, since I'm clearly a very shallow and unhappy person who must pass judgment on those around her: as my friend Mary and I left the Fox, we got stuck behind 3 ladies of advanced age. The 3 women were all wearing the exact same hideous floral-patterned blazer!!!! They all 3 dressed alike to go to the show!!!! I seriously hope that you find this as funny as Mary and I did. If not, well, what can I say--it's a quarter to midnight and I'm so sleepy.
