Tax Day and Other Random Stuff

Happy Tax Day everyone! If you're unlike me, you've probably forgotten that today is the deadline and you've already spent your refund. However if you are like me/my household, you might be racing to the post office at this very minute (9:30 pm cst) to get it postmarked in time. Oh yes, back in the day there was one April 15th that found my husband busting his arse to get to the post office in downtown St.Louis before midnight and he made it just in time. Thank heavens we are now much more organized (she types with only a slight hint of sarcasm). We mailed in our return a whole week ago! Soon our refund will be wired into Caleb's account so that we can just hand it right over to the lovely folks at Visa.

Ah yes, all is right with the world.

In other news, I would like to take this opportunity to ask who the crap keeps coming to my house and messing it up? Somehow, that person must be passing me on the highway on my way to and from school, because lo and behold, my desk always seems to be a mess as well. Next year, I will be a better organized teacher. I would try for it now, but come on, there are only like 7 weeks left. I'll spend the last 2-3 of those weeks trying to get everything packed away for the summer, so really, I only have about 4-5 weeks of disorganization to plow through. Maybe next year will be my year.

Now, my house....I guess I can't really put off being a half-way decent housekeeper until August, can I? I live in constant fear that someone's going to just drop by my house and feel compelled to call DFS as soon as they leave. I mean, it's not like we can't locate our kids in the abyss that is our home. We don't have pests or wierd science experiments growing in corners. Although, we did have a slight issue earlier this evening. Poor Riley just doesn't understand that you are not supposed to eat the crust of the toasted cheese sandwich that your brother left behind on his plate last night. And boy was she mad when I took it away!! That little incident kind of put things into perspective for me and you'll be glad to know that my kitchen and dining area are now spotless (I even mopped!). that might last through Thursday.

I must make one last confession for the evening. I have lost my motivation for the working out. I haven't made it in to the Y in 3 days. That's bad. I set my alarm for 4:50 this morning (yeah--they have one of those in the a.m.!!), fully intending to get up and go to the Y before work. I even slept in my swimsuit so I could literally roll out of bed, slip into my flip-flops and go to the pool. I finally got out of bed at 6:05. I'm going to give it a try again tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

One last thought for today: GO DAVID COOK!!!!!!!!! He is sooo my favorite American Idol. I still think Brooke is the prettiest, but pretty ain't gonna win you American Idol.

Okay, okay....
ever since you gave me the garage door code...
I admit - it's me. It's just good healthy mom competition.
I figure, my house is a mess, why shouldn't yours be?!

Hey! Did you know that David Cook went to high school with Zack?! Zack was a year behind him. Anyway, just a fun fact for you. You're only "3 degrees of separation" from him! I agree, though. He's my fave, too.

Yep...our tax return came in late February and we paid extra on the car payment with it. Bob is Turbo Tax Man . I gather the stuff and he gets the job done.
Brooke
(not the pretty one on American Idol...the fabulous one in Jackson, MO) ;)
