My Own Version of Weight Watchers

Okay, so I'm going to publicly state it and put it out there for the at least 5 readers of my blog to see: I now have an official weight loss goal. I want to lose 13 lbs by the time I turn 33 (October 31--15 weeks away). That would put me at 10 pounds under what my driver's license currently says I weigh. That would put me within my "ideal" weight range for my height (actually, I'm technically only 1 pound over "ideal" right now, but losing just 1 pound would not make me feel or look ideal). That would put me at the weight that I always day-dreamed about being, even in high school.

So, I'm on day 3 of religiously using the daily plate again.

And I'm on day 2 of Jillian Michaels' 30-day shred--that is, if I can force myself to put the dvd back into the dvd player and actually do the exercises.

I've already been to the Y this morning. Oh yes, I'm doing the 30-day shred in addition to what I was already doing before (which, admittedly had dwindled considerably in the past couple months, but that is now going to change).

I now have a goal in mind. I'm hoping that this will help me. In the past, I've just told myself "I'd like to lose some weight. I'm going to eat right and exercise and see what happens." Well, I'll tell you what happens--NOTHING! When I do this, I may feel a bit better and I may look a little better. But that number on the scale doesn't change. I've always had this philosophy that it's not about the number on the scale, per se--it's the number on the tag inside my jeans that counts. And while I still subscribe to this (mostly), I would still LOVE to see that certain number on the scale!

Oh yeah, I'm not revealing what that number is unless I actually make it there. That will be your reward for reading the endless blog posts about how hungry and tired and cranky I am during this process. If I actually attain that number--hopefully it's attainable--then, I'll tell you how much I weigh.

I'm also not going to post any biggest loser-esque photos of me. Let's face it--no one wants to see that.

So, wish me luck! I'm going to need it. If anyone else wants to join me on this, feel free. We can post comments here or through email (or facebook) to encourage one another and hold each other accountable. I've posted a link to the daily plate, in case you're interested in using it. It's a PITA for the first few days, but then once you get the hang of monitoring every little thing you put into your mouth, it gets easier and you start to acutally LOSE WEIGHT!

Let me know!!

Can you please box up some of your motivation and send it down here, please?!?!?! I'd love to work with you. Why is it that I always seem to gain weight in the summer? Right now, I've got about 18 to lose to be happy, but 20 would be bliss! Good luck!
