She Did It, She Did It, Hooray!

Riley finally figured out how to stop, ummm....defecating in her pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earlier this morning I was working on going through some toys and books and she announced that she needed to go to the bathroom (remember the days when you felt it necessary to announce this to the world?). So, I of course told her to go ahead and go. After a while it occurred to me that she'd been in there for a while. Now, normally this means that she's giving her hands a 15 minute shower. So on one of my trips back to the kids' rooms, I stopped in to check on her. She was sitting on her little potty. I asked if she was alright and she told me "I going poo-poo on the big girl potty!"

I could have thrown a party right then and there. For the past month, the child has been going in her pants and barely even acknowledging it. But today...today Casa Zustiak experienced a major breakthrough.

I hereby officially declare ours a DIAPER-FREE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God-willing, I have purchased my last box of diapers! (Unless we win a major lottery, in which case I promise there will be at least one more Zustiak baby--but I will determine what constitutes a "major lottery win".)

I understand that there will be the occasional accident. Riley still has difficulty getting her pants completely out of the way at times. And we're still wearing pull-ups for sleeping purposes. But this is a huge step in the right direction.

We have big kids now!
